Accessing email on my Apple device (IOS)

To download your email from an Apple (IOS) device please follow these instructions:

  1. Tap Settings.
  2. Tap Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
  3. Tap Add Account.
  4. Tap Other.
  5. Tap Add Mail Account.
  6. Enter your full name as it will appear in your outgoing messages.
  7. Enter your FULL email address into the Email or Username field.
  8. Enter your case-sensitive password into the Password field.
  9. You can change the Description field to something meaningful, such as Work or simply the email address itself, to differentiate this email account from others on your device.
  10. Tap Next.
  11. Tap POP on the top of the screen.
  12. Enter your mail server name in the "Host Name" field of the INCOMING MAIL SERVER section. This will be in the format mail.domainname.com. An example for our domain would be mail.htsis.com.
  13. Enter your FULL email address into the User Name field.
  14. Your password should already be filled in.
  15. Enter your mail server name in the "Host Name" field of the OUTGOING MAIL SERVER section. This will be in the format mail.domainname.com. An example for our domain would be mail.htsis.com.
  16. Enter your FULL email address into the User Name field.
  17. Enter your case-sensitive password into the Password field.
  18. Tap Save.
  19. A warning will appear about the server identity which is normal.  Tap Continue.
  20. Your device should find the mail server settings it needs to set up your account.  If it cannot connect then you may receive a warning message indicating that it cannot connect using SSL. If that occurs then you should choose No to try Non-SSL. You can then save the account and edit the settings manually:
    1. Tap Done to finalize the configuration.
    2. Tap the account that was saved.
    3. Tap the SMTP server named mail.domainname.com in the OUTGOING MAIL SERVER section.
    4. Tap the same name in the PRIMARY SERVER section.
    5. Verify that the user name and password fields are filled in.
    6. Verify that the Use SSL slider is turned ON.
    7. Verify that the Authentication is set to Password.
    8. Verify that the Server Port is 465 (or 587).
    9. Tap Done.
    10. Tap back on the upper left-hand corner of the screen.
    11. Tap the Advanced option.
    12. Verify that the Use SSL slider is turned ON.
    13. Verify that the Authentication is set to Password.
    14. Verify that the Server Port is 995.
    15. Tap Back.
  21. Tap Done to finalize the configuration.
